The TMSA team has completed many large, complex transactions and performed substantial work repositioning and developing properties.

The founding partners and their principal associates have solid real estate expertise that combines experience with knowledge. Their ties with the business community and with numerous decision makers are an added plus for the firm.

Partners (in alphabetical order)

Mario Messier
An influential player in the sector, Mario Messier is cofounder of Thibault, Messier, Savard and Associates Inc.

He is constantly on the lookout for new challenges and is famous for his business acumen, his analytical abilities, and his vast network of contacts. A team player, he puts together the resources the firm needs to successfully complete the projects it undertakes.

Mr. Messier made his first debut in the real estate in the 80's when he joined Société immobilière Sélection Inc. in complicity with Bernard Thibault. His previous experience in the sales business has rapidly led to make his mark in the real estate industry. 

In addition to his work duties, Mario Messier has remained active in various organizations. From 1997 to 2001, he served as Vice President chair of the board of the St. Hubert Military Base and Airport Area Development Corporation and was President of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team, the Montreal Rocket, from 2000 to 2002. He has been a member of the Cisco Systems Canada Inc. advisory board since early 1999 and has participated in numerous fundraising campaigns. He sits on the board of the Pierre Boucher Hospital Foundation and has been a board member of the Longueuil Municipal Golf Course, Parcours du Cerf, since April 2002. He has also been an honorary patron of the MIRA Foundation since 1996.

Serge Savard
Serge Savard is a well-known and well-liked public figure. He is an accomplished businessman and has been with Thibault, Messier, Savard and Associates Inc. since 1992.

His reputation and credibility in the business community are well established.

A former hockey star (#18) and General Manager of the Montreal Canadians hockey club, he is very involved in charity organizations and is a member of both public and private boards.

Mr. Savard has many years of experience in real estate and plays an important role in the firm, particularly in building business partnerships.

Serge Savard is a Member of the Order of Canada (O.C.) and Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Québec (C.Q.). In 1995, he received an honorary doctorate degree in physical education from the University of Moncton. He also serves as Governor of the Mayor of Montreal's Youth Foundation and honorary patron of the MIRA Foundation.

Mr. Savard is also involved in philanthropy. Over the years, he has participated in many fundraising campaigns for charitable organizations and hospitals such as Leucan, the Quebec Division of the Arthritis Society, and the Charles Lemoyne, St. Justine, and Pierre Boucher hospitals.

Bernard Thibault
Cofounder of Thibault, Messier, Savard and Associates Inc., Bernard Thibault has been involved in real estate promotion and development for more than 30 years and has many large projects to his credit.

Bernard Thibault keeps a tight watch over TMSA projects. He also chairs or is a member of various boards in the hotel and real estate sectors. His involvement in the real estate field led him to two consecutive terms as President of the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board, an association of nearly 10,000 real estate brokers and agents. He was also a member of the board of the Urban Development Institute of Quebec and has served as Vice President of the Quebec Real Estate Brokers and Agents Association.

On the national scene, he has served as a director of the Canadian Real Estate Association, which has more than 85,000 members, and was also a member of the Real Estate Institute of Canada. Bernard Thibault is also involved in various humanitarian organizations. He has served as a member of the board of a large hospital in the Greater Montreal area and as President of the Charles Lemoyne Hospital Foundation. The Ville-Marie Urban Planning Advisory Committee (UPAC) in Montreal has also benefited from his knowledge of the real estate sector.

Carole Cinq Mars, Financial Director

Carole Cinq Mars has been a member of the TMSA team since July 2002.

At TMSA, she manages various real estate projects and conducts due diligence and analysis on the group's investment, merger, and acquisition projects.

Before joining the team, she worked as a consultant for Secor Conseils, where she carried out various tasks for SMEs and a number of organizations. Among other things, she conducted organizational assessments, operational and financial framework reviews, and audits of existing policies and procedures. She also set up the firm's budgetary procedures.

Carole Cinq Mars is a certified general accountant and holds an MBA from UQAM.



Michel Dépatie, Asset Director

Michel Dépatie has been a member of the TMSA team since 1996. With 25 years of experience in financial institutions, of which 14 were spent at General Trust of Canada, he worked on the turnaround and restructuring of many large properties and resolved a number of contentious issues to the benefit of the firm. Michel is a director of the mortgage association namely, Association des Prêteurs Hypothécaires du Montréal Métropolitain.

In recent years, he has developed solid expertise in the management and application of environmental standards, real estate asset management, rentals, and the management of leasehold improvements for new tenants.

His experience and grit are a great asset to the TMSA team.

 



André Desbiens, Vice President for Acquisitions and Development

André Desbiens came to work for TMSA Group during the first year after its founding, in 1989. For the past 16 years, he has supervised most of the Group's investment portfolios and has been the firm's frontline player and main project manager.

In 1995, he chaired the Metsa Real Estate Group, a TMSA subsidiary boasting a team of 45 real estate professionals. As asset manager for various portfolios, he worked with Guy Trudeau to coordinate the development, restructuring, and realization of each asset, posting exceptional returns.

The Group's varied acquisitions also afforded him the opportunity to work on assets in the hotel sector. He supervised the purchase, construction, and management of the El Senador hotel complex in the Carribean. Developing properties and securing the high returns on investment demanded by the firm are his forte.



Martin Galarneau, Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Development

Martin Galarneau has wide-ranging experience with a focus in real estate.

After serving as Associate Deputy Minister for Greater Montreal (Quebec Government), he returned to TMSA in November 2005. Before occupying this function, he had been with the Group for five years, during which time he managed various projects and conducted important negotiations.

He started his career in the late eighties in an important Montreal law firm specialized in real estate, where he mainly worked on financing and acquisition transactions.

Martin Galarneau is a lawyer, has a certificate in real estate and a master's degree in urban planning.

Involved in its community, he is or was member of the board of several foundations and organizations, including the Parternariat du Quartier des Spectacles, École de danse contemporaine (Ladmmi),  Angus Development Corporation, Montréal International, Société du Havre de Montréal, Quartier international de Montréal, Régie des Installations Olympiques, and Fondation du Maire de Montréal pour la jeunesse.



Isabelle Richard, Notary

Isabelle Richard has worked as legal counsellor at Thibault, Messier, Savard and Associates Inc. since 2000. She supervises the firm's legal and corporate affairs and analyzes financing and investment files and the acquisition and sale of assets.

She has a law degree (1990) and a diploma in notarial law (1991) from Université de Montréal and has been a member of Chambre des notaires since 1991. She has more than 15 years of experience, mainly in real estate, commercial, and corporate law.



Guy Trudeau, Vice President for Finance and Administration

Guy Trudeau has directed the firm's financial operations since 1999. Upon his arrival in 1991, he managed the firm's commercial research and organized the financing for the firm's investment projects. At the same time, he rounded out his business administration skills with a master's degree in marketing.

Over the years he has occupied various positions in the firm. His rigor and critical judgment underpin his talent for putting together investment packages and handling marketing matters. His passion for real estate combined with the diversity of the firm's undertakings over the years has shaped his multidisciplinary approach to real estate.

He has a master's degree in science in administration (M.Sc.) from École des Hautes Études Commerciales of Montreal.
